The full tuition is due one week before the class start date.
We accept cash, checks, Visa and Mastercard. For credit cards, there is a handling fee of $2 for amounts $200 or under, or 2%
for amounts over $200.
Q: What if I need to drop a class after I've registered?
A: If you need to drop a class once you've registered, you must submit written notice to the
Registrar. Once the written notice is received, your drop will be processed. If you drop a
class more than 24 hours prior to the first session, you forfeit the non-refundable deposit,
but are eligible for a refund of the remainder of your tuition. If you drop a class less than
24 hours before or after the start date of the class, you forfeit $50 for each class that has
passed, regardless of how many you attended. You are not eligible for a refund after the
mid-point of the class. Refunds can be given by check, credited to your credit card, or kept
as credit for the following quarter.
Q: What if I miss a class, can I get it pro-rated?
A: No, throughout the course of a class, everyone has a conflict at some point and needs to be absent from
class. When you signed up for the class, we reserved a place for you in each class.
Q: Can I get university credit for my courses?
A: Yes! Through our partnerships with Seattle University, Antioch University and Phoenix University, you can
receive credit for most of our classes. Some restrictions apply. Seattle University requires a $35 fee per
credit. Please call the office at (206) 323-7499 to register for credit.
Q: Can I get financial aid for my classes?
A: For classes taken for credit, you are eligible for continuing education loans, although most loan programs
require a tuition minimum of $1000 or more. Check with your bank or one of our accredited institutions'
financial aid offices for more details.
We also offer three to four internships in which you may work for a class. Some restrictions apply.
Please call or write the office to inquire if there are any available positions.
Q: What spaces can you rent? How much do they cost?
A: Freehold has four rental spaces available. There's more information on our
Space Rental page.
Q: Do you rent space during the evening and on weekends?
A: We do rent our spaces during non-business hours, however it is required that you check out a
key in order to get into the space.
Q: How do I check out a key?
A: Come by the office Monday through Friday between 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to check out a key.
A check made out to Freehold for $50 or a credit card number is required to check out a key.
You are not charged for the key unless it is lost or stolen. You MUST come to the office to
check out a key, we do not leave them posted outside or drop them off anywhere for you. If you
cannot come to the office during business hours, you may send someone to pick it up for you
the same check out procedures apply.
Q: When do I pay for the space?
A: All rental space must be paid for prior to its use. We accept cash, checks, Visa and Mastercard.
For credit cards, there is a handling fee of $2 for amounts $200 or under, or 2%
for amounts over $200.
Q: What if I can't get into the space?
A: If you rent a space during non-business hours, it is your responsibility to check out a key in order
to use the space. If you fail to do so and cannot get into the space, you are still responsible for
renting the space and thus, still need to pay for it.
Q: What if I'd like to rehearse longer on the day I have space rented?
A: If you are rehearsing and need more time, you can check the space book page (hanging on the
bulletin board in the same hallway as the office) to see if anyone has rented the space after
you. If so, you must vacate the room for the next renter. If not, you may write your name in
for the time you are taking, drop a check in the office drop box with a note stating you booked
more time and finish your rehearsal. If you fail to pay for the space BEFORE you take more time,
this is trespassing and you will be fined $50 for each hour you stayed in the space.
Q: Can I get the student rehearsal rate if I've taken a class in the past?
A: No, the student rehearsal rate is reserved for students CURRENTLY taking a class and are
working on CLASSWORK. It does not apply once your class has ended, or if you are not working on
classwork.
Q: I have some acting experience, do I take Step I or II?
A: Good question! A lot of beginners are unsure as to which class to start with.
If you have had stage time, but no formal training, start with Step I. There are certain
elements and vocabulary of acting that you need to have in order to communicate in more
advanced classes.
If you took a few classes in high school and nothing else, start with Step I. Our
curriculum is much more rigorous and inclusive than the majority of high school classes
available.
If you have taken another introduction class elsewhere, you may feel comfortable enough to
start with Step II. Think about what you learned in that class. Did you learn to play an
action? discover what your character wants? discover given circumstances and subtext? If you
said yes to all of these, you will be fine to enter Step II.
If you took beginning acting in college, ask yourself the same questions as above and if you
said yes, you will be fine to go into Step II.
If you've had formal training, but it has been several years, think about how much training
you have had, what you remember and if you would like to take a refresher before continuing.
