The Freehold Lab provides a forum for the enrichment of accomplished artists and the development of new performance material in a research environment. Freehold's Theatre Lab offers professionals the opportunity to re-invest in their love of the art, to realize their individual potential and vision, and to celebrate the power and magic of this process with an audience.
The Lab has supported the work of Leonid Anisimov, Gennadi Bogdanov, Becca Chase, Elizabeth Heffron, Mark Jenkins, Anthony Lee, Marjorie Nelson, Tony Pasqualini, Meg Richmond, Robin Lynn Smith, Matt Smith, Katt Tait, and many others.
Work has gone on to major venues in Seattle (including On The Boards and the Seattle Repertory Theatre), New York, Vancouver B.C., San Francisco, as well as independent and major motion pictures. We have conducted an international collaboration with the Chamber Drama Theatre of Vladivostok, Russia, in which we presented their master work, THE LOWER DEPTHS, and mounted a new production of UNCLE VANYA with American actors.
