INTRO TO SUZUKI with Michael Place
November 18 & 19 // 2:00PM - 5:00PM
Full Rate: $150 // Discount Rate: $105

The training methodology of acclaimed Japanese Theatre director Tadashi Suzuki, Suzuki Method re-prioritizes the core as the center of the actor's instrument in totality. Thought a series of sustained and dynamic disciplines, this practice invites the actor to explore their most efficient, powerful, quick, resilient and coordinated selves while expanding their imaginations and harnessing a palpable sense of readiness, all with the aim of deepening live performance. Suzuki Method seeks to aid the actor in communicating intention with the entire instrument, allowing for a receptive and dynamic presence on stage.

SLOW TEMPO with Michael Place
December 2 & 3 // 2:00PM - 5:00PM
Full Rate $150 // Discount Rate $105

Shogo Ohta, Japanese director, playwright and master teacher, spent over twenty years exploring gesture and the actor’s movement in three-dimensional, modern, urban space. His training and performance aesthetic evolved into an acute, nearly microscopic look at the human condition, expressed entirely in slow tempo and in silence. His practice challenges the actor to explore each moment without adornment, while increasing stamina, strength, concentration, breath control, focus, honesty and clarity. This work distills the present moment inviting the magnitude of our most essential selves.

with Christine Marie Brown
December 3 & 10 // 10:00AM - 2:00PM
Full Rate: $200 // Discounted Rate: $140

Auditioning is the skill that actors use most often in their career. Do you feel apathetic, hopeless or out of control when you audition? Do feel mystified about how best to prepare? We will breakdown each part of an actual audition - from prep to exiting the room-and we will unpack what's working and tackle what's not. Come prepared with a modern monologue to work on- memorized and ready to use for an audition- not something you memorized the night before. This workshop is for those professional actors who may feel stuck for some reason and are hungry to take their audition skills to the next level. I LOVE this topic and have been wrestling and enjoying this part of my career for more than 2 decades. Come and get in the sandbox with me-- and we will make discoveries that will move your work forward.
Prerequisites: BA, BFA or MFA in Drama/Acting, Completed Audition course at Freehold and/or 3 or more professional theatre credits.
