Age Minimum
Freehold has a minimum age requirement of eighteen years.
Deposits and Payment Due Date
We accept cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard. For credit cards, there is a handling fee of $2 for amounts $200 or under, or 2% for amounts over $200.
A minimum, non-refundable deposit of $75 is required to hold the student’s place in each class costing less than $500. A $150 non-refundable deposit is required for classes $500 and over.
Payment for all classes is due 7 days prior to the first day of class. If the payment is not made, Freehold will assess a $25 late fee, or Freehold may release the student’s place in class. Teachers cannot accept payment in class.
Tier Levels
When you register, we will ask you to report the number of people living in your household (adults and children) and the gross annual income for your household to determine which pricing tier you will be included in. This information is self-reported and no documentation is required initially, however, we may ask you to verify your income at any time.
Past Due Balance & Returned Checks
An overdue balance will be assessed a $25 late fee. Any account more than 90 days late will automatically be sent to United Collections Service.
A handling fee of $25 will be charged for processing returned checks. If your check is returned more than once or if more than one of your checks is returned, you must pay all fees in full by cash or credit card before you will be allowed to attend class or register again.
Refunds, Transfers, Credits, and Withdrawals
There are no refunds, credits, or withdrawals as of the first day of the class for which you are registered.
To drop a class, the student must give WRITTEN notice to the Registrar by email or mail. The Registrar will contact you within 2 business days to confirm your notice. Tuition paid for the class, excluding the non-refundable deposit, will be considered a forfeit or refund depending on the day of notice.
The student remains responsible for any unpaid balances or forfeits as a result of dropping a class. The student should expect a refund (if applicable) within 15-30 days of dropping a course.
Withdrawal for Illness or Military Service
After the first day of class, refunds or credits will be granted only in the case of (1) serious illness or (2) military service. To request a refund or credit, you must submit a letter WITH DOCUMENTATION (medical certificate in the case of illness or induction papers in the case of military service) by mail to the Registrar. State the nature of the problem or your reason for withdrawal, and the date of the last class attended. Documentation must be received within three weeks of your withdrawal, otherwise consideration for withdrawal will be retroactive only to the date that Freehold receives your request letter.
Scholastic Drop
Freehold and its faculty reserve the right to drop a student if they feel that a class (or classes) do not fit a particular student's training needs.
Attendance & Behavior
Unless previous arrangements have been made with the instructor, all students should arrive promptly and stay for the entire length of the class. Repeated absence or lateness disrupts other students' work. Students who are repeatedly absent and/or late may be asked at the discretion of the instructor to withdraw from class.
Any student displaying threatening, intimidating, violent behavior, or who brings a weapon onto or around the premises may be dismissed and asked to withdraw from the class without a refund. Freehold reserves the right to refuse to register anyone who engages in disruptive or otherwise unacceptable behavior, including the use of illegal drugs or alcohol on or around the premises.
Faculty
Freehold engages an exclusive faculty of independent artists whose livelihood is gained primarily from performing and who give back to the theatre community through their teaching. Their generosity makes it possible for Freehold to offer classes at nominal rates - just enough to cover basic costs and compensate these professionals for their time. In exchange, we accord our teachers flexibility to pursue performance opportunities as they arise. This means that on occasion we will need to reschedule a class due to professional conflicts. While every effort is made to keep substitutions to a minimum, on occasion you may be taught, for as long as necessary, by a qualified substitute drawn from the Freehold faculty.
Nondiscriminatory Policy
Freehold does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, age, marital status, or physical or mental disability in its hiring, promotion, or student enrollment.
Liability
Renters/students freely and knowingly assume all risk incidental to participating in rehearsal/class at any of Freehold's studios. Renters/students understand and accept that Freehold, its staff and faculty, are not responsible for injury to persons or property related to participation in rehearsals in Freehold's studios. As a renter or student, you here by agree to indemnify, release, and hold harmless Freehold Studio/Theatre Lab, its officers, directors, employees, or agents from any liability arising out of or related to any activity, accident, or incident in rehearsal and/or on the premises.
