Freehold and Antioch University Seattle launched a certified training
program, the Ensemble Training Intensive (ETI), designed for emerging
artists who are ready to make a vocational commitment to the theatre. ETI is
offered every three year as a ten-month conservatory course that focuses on
developing the technical skills necessary to meet the demands of classical
text and contemporary material composed in extraordinary form. The training
is aimed at integrating organic truthful connection, spontaneous moment to
moment life, and extraordinary expression - physically, vocally and
imagistically. The ETI empowers emerging professionals with a dependable
inner and outer process to inhabit heightened text, world, character, and
form, in order to make a meaningful contribution to the community.
Check out our event page to find more information about scheduled ETI recitals.

The 10 month Ensemble Training Intensive is designed to enable participants to:

- Work through fundamental technical skills with Shakespeare's text, and integrate those into working on a role.
- Develop fundamental skills in physical comedy and character transformation using Moliere's works.

The Courses
The curriculum includes movement, voice, speech, stage combat, acting, audition,
and workshops about casting and the business. The program also includes two
recitals and one production that will tour to non-traditional theatre venues,
which ensures substantial performing opportunities for each student. We limit
the class size to 14 to 16 students and offer group and tutorial sessions.
Certification in the Society of American Fight Directors will be offered
(optional). After successful completion, you will receive certification and
65 continuing education units for the full program.
The Instructors
We have witnessed powerful, exponential leaps in actors' work when we team-teach
at several junctures. We incorporated this approach in the structure of the ETI.
The instructors work as a team to help the students integrate the various
disciplines into a cohesive process. The instructors are working professionals
who have earned their spurs throughout the country in acting, directing, and
teaching. Instructors include Robin Lynn Smith, George Lewis, Kate Wisniewski,
John Abramson, Amy Thone, Geoff Alm, Brennan Murphy, and Kate Godman.
The Participants
The program is designed for artists who are ready to take on the rigor and
responsibility of this technical intensive that involves 20-25 hours a week
in class and ensemble rehearsal, as well as individual drill and preparation
time.

"This morning I sent off my acceptance to the MFA program at Rutgers University
in New Jersey. I received a compliment at the audition; they appreciated that I
was able to have full presence on the stage. I think that's as much a tribute
to Freehold as it is to me it wouldn't have been said had I not gotten the
training I did. Four years ago I was ready to give up acting for good. Now, I
can't imagine who I'd be without it. With all my heart, thank you."
-Gregory Singleton, ETI alum 2002-2003
"The ETI Program is a great one! Anyone who really does the work will have all
one needs to stand above the crowd. Confidence is the only tool the training
can't give you, but knowing you have everything else in your acting kit should
boost your confidence to high heaven. Out here [in LA] you'll need it. Freehold
will give you all the rest. I do feel truly blessed to have been a part of the
organization. I can never thank Freehold enough."
-Katt Tait, ETI alum 2002-2003
