Letter to Freehold Community and Board

Changes at Freehold Theatre

Dear Friends of Freehold,

Hello!  My name is Charlotte Tiencken and I am the new Interim Managing Director at Freehold Theatre.   Zoe Cauley who was the Managing Director for 10 years has moved on to a position with the Women’s Funding Alliance.  Her last day was October 10.  I will be coming on full time starting November 1. Robin Lynn Smith and I have known each other for many years, and I am very excited to be working with her.  She is an amazing teacher and director and I am in awe of her abilities.

Robin and I are dedicated to the art of theatre and to the mission and vision of Freehold.  The opportunities at Freehold are boundless and we have lots of great ideas for the future of the organization.  But, we have had a set back and we want to tell you about it.

Over Labor Day weekend, water pipes underneath and outside of our building burst and water flooded the offices and bathrooms at Freehold.  The bathrooms and offices were severely damaged, parts of walls removed and all of our office furniture ruined. Thankfully, no studios were damaged.  As a result, we have had to move our offices to a temporary spot at Hing Hay Coworks, 409B Maynard Ave. S.  Erin Gray, our registrar, or I will be there Monday- Friday, 10am-6pm.  Our classes are still moving forward and are happening all over Seattle; at Cornish College of the Arts, DASSdance and at SCID, downstairs from Hing Hay Coworks.  As always, we have some great classes going with incredible faculty.  Our winter quarter class schedule will be announced soon. At this point, we are not sure when we will be back in our space, but we will be sure and let you know as soon as we know.

In the meantime, please contact me at managingdirector@freeholdtheatre.org, if you have any questions or need information about what is happening at Freehold.  I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you, and to working with you to continue to provide opportunities for engaging artists of all levels in training and experimentation so that they may become more innovative and heartfelt in generating theatre that has a lasting impact on the community we serve.

Sincerely,

Charlotte Tiencken
